The Thinking Maths for Grades 1–5 exam — what you need to know

What you study
Grades 1–3: numbers and operations, part–whole models, working backwards, sum–difference, sum–ratio, motion, counting shapes. Grades 4–5: Thinking Maths following the Grade 6 entrance assessment format.
4 tiers of exercises in every session
Foundation → Advanced → Challenge → Olympiad in the TIMO and Kangaroo style — strong children move fast, children who need a foundation build it solidly.
Bilingual
Questions are in English, with a Vietnamese line under each; an English Science corner in every session — the part of the Trần Đại Nghĩa test given in English.
Assessments
Each level ends with a 100-point test; Grades 4–5 sit regular mock tests in the 90-minute exam format.
Parents can help
Answers and worked solutions with diagrams are at the back of the book; each session has its own notes for parents: what was learned and which questions to ask your child.
Who should study
Children in Grades 1–5 aiming for Grade 6 at Trần Đại Nghĩa and other schools that admit by aptitude assessment; children at international schools (Cambridge Primary) who need math in English; children who want to sit TIMO or Kangaroo — and parents who want their child to build all-round thinking skills rather than memorise problem types.
