The two plans show how the layout of a university sports centre has changed since 2007.
Overall, the main building has been extended on both sides to house more indoor facilities, and the outdoor provision has also been upgraded. These gains have come at the expense of green space, as the trees and lawn have disappeared.
In 2007, the building comprised a sports hall on the west side, with changing rooms and a reception area to its east. The hall and changing rooms are unchanged, but an indoor swimming pool has been added to the western end, on the site of the two tennis courts, and a new wing containing a gym and reception has been built onto the eastern end, where the car park used to be. The former reception has been converted into a café, and the entrance has been relocated eastwards, though it remains on the south side.
Outside, the grass football pitch to the north has been resurfaced as a floodlit all-weather pitch. The tennis courts have doubled in number to four and now occupy the north-west corner, where trees once stood. Finally, the car park now covers the former lawn south of the building, and bike racks have been installed beside it, near the new entrance.
