Bài mẫu

The line graph tracks how much a kilogram of bananas cost, in US dollars, in Japan, France, Germany and the USA over the decade from 1994 to 2004.

Overall, bananas became dearer in Japan and France but cheaper in Germany, while the American price barely moved. Japan was the most expensive of the four markets in every year shown.

Japanese prices started at $2.00 and, despite repeated fluctuations, reached $2.70 by 2004, having hit a high of roughly $2.90 in 2000. France recorded the largest overall gain: from $1.10, the second-lowest figure in 1994, the price climbed almost without interruption to about $2.00 in 2002 and, after a brief dip, closed at $1.90. On the way it drew level with Germany at around $1.40 in 1996 and stayed above it thereafter.

Germany moved in the opposite direction. Its bananas, the second most expensive at $1.50 in 1994, became cheaper fairly steadily and ended the period at $0.80, a little over half the opening figure. This took the German price below the American one from 2002 onwards, since the US price stayed within ten cents of $1.00 throughout. Consequently, the gap between the dearest and cheapest countries widened from $1.10 to $1.90.
