Dear Maya,
I've just heard the news from your mum — you passed! Congratulations, I'm absolutely thrilled for you. I know how many evenings you spent buried in those accountancy textbooks while the rest of us were in the pub, and I'm not surprised that it paid off. Passing at the first attempt is a huge achievement; my cousin needed three goes.
What impressed me most was the way you kept going after that awful mock result in March. Plenty of people would have given up, but you changed how you revised and got on with it. Your firm is lucky to have you, and I'm sure the promotion will follow before long.
This calls for a proper celebration. How about dinner at that Vietnamese place on Bridge Street next Saturday, the 20th?
