Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to report an item I left on one of your trains and to ask for your help in recovering it.
I travelled on the 17:42 service from Manchester Piccadilly to Leeds on Tuesday 8 September, arriving at about 18:35. I was in Coach C, seat 24, a window seat, and I can supply my booking reference if that would assist your search.
The item is a dark green canvas rucksack with brown leather straps and a small brass badge on the front pocket. It contains a laptop in a grey sleeve, a hardback notebook and a pair of glasses in a red case. I placed it in the overhead rack above my seat and, in my hurry to change trains, left it behind when I alighted.
I would be grateful if you could check whether the rucksack has been handed in at Leeds or at the train's final destination and, if so, advise me how to collect it or have it posted. I am happy to cover any postage or handling charges and can be reached on 07700 900123.
