Dear Mr Patel,
I am writing to ask whether you would allow me to keep a small pet in the flat at 14 Elm Court, as my tenancy agreement requires your written consent.
The animal is a two-year-old house-trained cat belonging to my sister, who is moving abroad next month and cannot take him. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and used to living indoors, so he would not roam the building or disturb other tenants.
I do not believe he would cause any problems. The flat has hard floors rather than carpets, I would place a scratching post in the living room to protect the furniture, and cats are quiet by nature, so there would be none of the noise that dogs can create. I have lived here for three years and have always kept the flat in good condition.
To put your mind at rest, I would be happy to pay an additional deposit of £200 and to arrange a professional cleaning when I eventually move out. You would also be welcome to inspect the flat at any time.
I would be very grateful if you could let me know your decision at your convenience.
